AutonetMagz – Back when Porsche introduced the Porsche Cayman, they still consider it as a step siblings compared to the 911 in terms of motorsport. As Cayman hasn’t participate in any racing competition. but what about this one? a 981 Cayman with roll cage, racing seat, 6 point seat belt and even a fire extinguisher.
This is what happened when Porsche Motorsport are being told to create the Cayman GT4 to become a true race car, it called as Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR which is based out of Cayman GT4 and indeed it meant to become a racing car, as no audio, no sound damper, no carpet, no AC, as those component add weights, and weights need to be reduced during a race.
The car basically is a track ready car and not a road legal one, as it will be fitted with a slick 18 inches tyres from michelin, along with a 15 inches ventilated discs, 6 piston calipers up front and 4 pistons at the rear. Just like the 911 GT3 Ciyp, it only available in the left steering version.
All the racing component who consisting of roll cage, race steering wheel, fire extinguisher, etc has comply to FIA standard. As for engine, Porsche fitted a 3.8 liter 6 cylinder Cayman GT4 with 385 hp and 420 Nm mated with a PDK6 to make it more competitive.
As with all the comfort features removed, it weighs 42 kg lighter than the ordinary Cayman GT4. As the front strut it borrows the 911 GT3 to improved its handling. Porsche did said that Asia-Pacific customers could get one if they want to start a career in a racing world.
It will costs around USD 165,000 or 1.5 times more expensive than a standard Porsche Cayman GT4. But again it has comply most of the race competition under the license and supervision of FIA.
