Mitsubishi Expander Teaser Unveiled, Will Apply A 1.5 Liter, CVT and FWD!

AutonetMagz – Slowly but sure, details after details of the new Mitsubishi Expander unveiled one by one. After previously we show you the headlight who said to use LED technology, now the teaser showing 50% of the front fascia along with several silhouette from the side and rear of this latest LMPV.

In general, Mitsubishi looks like will make the Grey color as the hero color of the new Mitsubishi Expander, shows by 2 teaser containing the car using the same color. So after looking back the now more complete teaser, still we think taht the main light is the headlight? looks like it wasn’t as the main light is the lower one and fitted side by side along with the side mirror, while the top light probably will be a LED DRL.

Besides the headlight other details we could notice is the bold front grille who kind of remind us of the old Honda City, and the Dynamic Shield design language who surely will become Mitsubishi’s trademark.

One other interesting information we manage to found is, the car will use a 1.5 liter 4A91 engine based on the Mitsubishi Colt models and transmitted to the front wheel by a 6 virtual speed CVT gearbox. AS speaking of the engine, Mitsubishi themselves own 1 engine with 1.5 liter of displacement, which are a 4A91 and the old 4G15 who has been introduced since 1983.

The 4A91 engine fitted in Colt itself came with a 16V DOHC, ECI multiple, and 72 x 84.8 mm Bore x Stroke configurationnand a compression ratio of 10.5:1. It could produce 120 PS at 6,000 rpm and 145 Nm of max torque at 4,000 rpm. But don’t expect the same engine could perform like that in Indonesia due to bad fuel condition. While the 4G15 engine are quite famous, as even when fitted in the Mitsubishi Colt R on early 2000, it able to compete against Honda Jazz with a 4G15 turbo engine producing 163 hp. While the fastest 4G15 engine currently held by Mitsubishi Colt CZT Ralliart with 197 hp.

Surely the new Expander do have the same weapon as other LMPV in Indonesia market, but our source did said that the car will have bigger weights so the engine will perform less responsive.

The new Mitsubishi Expander itself has become a hot topic among Indonesia automotive lovers, as this new LMPV will marks Mitsubishi steps in entering the fierce market in Indonesia. So lets wait for its premiere on the upcoming Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2017.
