AutonetMagz – Forget about Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo, as thanks to the return of Toyota in WRC, a lot of technologies could be fitted into Toyota Yaris you see above and make it a true hot hatchback.
Available only in 3 doors variant, the Toyota Yaris GRMN apply a more aggressive front and rear bumper along with a black roof spoiler and a mid exhaust at the diffuser, while the black 17 inches wheels are made by BBS.
For the interior, it dominated by black color and a bucket seats designed by Toyota Boshoku. As the leather steering wheel basically is a common part with the Toyota 86 2017. Besides that, the Yaris GRMN fitted with a set of aluminum pedal and special instrument panel designed by GRMN. Just FYI, GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing, Masters of the Nurburgring.
Forget about turbo engines usually fitted in hot hatch on this segment, as the Yaris GRMN fitted with a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder supercharger 205 hp, which is based from the Corolla Altis and distributed to the front wheel through 6-speed MT.
As the main focus is to become a hot hatch, that is why no DCT available for this model. While the other reason is Toyota didn’t have any Dual clutch technology yet, prior to the Supra 2018 who will become the first model from Toyota to be fitted with Dual clutch.
To cater the engine performance, there will be an extra bracing to strengthen the chassis, along with a strut bar for front suspensions which both of it has been tested in Nurburgring. At the suspensions, we could find damper made by Sachs, along with a lower car height, thicker stabilizer front bar, along with Brembo brakes and LSD Torsen.
Performance? Toyota claim that the car have the best 0-100 km/h acceleration, which means less than the 6.5 seconds of the Ford Fiesta ST. As it remains as a production version preview, the actual model will be available in the future.
