AutonetMagz – Several weeks ago, we did released an information regarding the new city car from Suzuki in Indonesia. What we meant is the Ignis, as it have a phenomenal design and price tag, as the acceptance not only happens in Indonesia, in India too where the unit are available, and remain to have a long queue to get one.
The Ignis booking order has reaching 12,000 people since its introduce for the first time in India market. On last January, they manage to sell over 10,000 units, which is a good news for Maruti, as they manage to create a new best selling product after the SX-4 S-Cross and Baleno Hatchback. Maruti Suzuki has opened the booking order since January 2017, and around 57% of the order came from Online. This success story surely hoped to be repeated by Suzuki Indonesia in Indonesia market.
In India, Ignis appeal make a lot of people to wait in a queue, as the assembly factory in Haryana, India only manage to produce around 4,500 – 5,000 units per month which is far from the market expectation. So Ignis customers have to wait for 2 to 3 months before receiving the unit.
This is not the fist time happened to Suzuki products, as the Vitara Brezza and Baleno Hatchback did experience the same thing. Last year when both of the car launched, it takes 3 even 9 months to get the unit. Despite not as striking as the Baleno who record over 40,000 units at its first month, but with this order number, Maruti hope they could get around 50% of market share in the city car segment.
While for Indonesia market as the city car price tag has been leaked, surely it will become the initial steps for Suzuki Indonesia to compete in the fierce city car segment, after the absent of Splash and the bad sales of Celerio. The Ignis in Indonesia will be fitted with a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder engine producing 81.77 hp and fitted with a 5-speed MT and AMT. With the success story of Ignis in Indonesia, will the history repeats once more in Indonesia market? we shall wait and see.
