AutonetMagz – Don’t think that the Porsche 911 tiers will stop at the GT3 RS or 911 Turbo, as following the 911 nomenclature from 6 years ago, after the GT3 RS, there will be a GT2 and GT2 RS, as the most hardcore 911, as the GT2 are more civilized variant, while the GT2 RS is more a track version. Compared to other 911, the 911 GT2 often to be said as a “Death Warrant”.
As the 911 GT2 famous with a wild handling. Applying the Porsche 911 Turbo as the base, the old 911 GT2 code 997 produce 530 hp and 680 Nm of torque out of its flat-6 twin turbo engine. With a weight only 1.4 tonnes, it came with a manual, RWD, and stability control with 2 steps when activated, and resulting acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
Too bad, the Porsche 911 GT2 didn’t last too long, as starting next year, its been 5 years since the last 911 GT2 exists in the 911 line-ups. But due to the new 911 code 991 received a good responds, especially the facelift 991.2 version, Porsche decide to bring back the GT2 label for the 911, and similar as the previous GT2, it will be based on the Porsche 911 Turbo.
For the output, Porsche want to create the new 911 GT2 to enter the supercar territory such as Ferrari 488, McLaren 650S, and Lamborghini Huracan. The Flat-6 Twin turbo engine will be further tuned to produce up to 620 hp, which is a same power of the previous 911 GT2 RS. With a RWD drivetrain, and 4-wheel steering system will be fitted at the 911 GT3 RS.
It is estimated that Porsche will release the 911 GT2 on next year, as several months after, they will bring the 911 GT2 RS, before both of them officially sold on 2018. But before the 911 GT2, Porsche will introduced the porsche 911 GT3, and GT3 RS facelift with a N/A 4.0 liter engine flat-6.
